Job Description

Category Schools - School Psychologist Job Type Contract Make a real impact in the lives of students as a School Psychologist in the Washington DC area—just 45 minutes south of DC. This full-time, on-site, contract opportunity is perfect for qualified professionals seeking a dynamic school environment while working across two campuses. Your expertise will be utilized primarily for assessment and consultation, supporting FBAs, BIPs, and occasionally contributing to MTSS frameworks. While collaboration with social workers on counseling matters may arise, you'll have the support of education diagnosticians in every building—so no academic achievement testing is required. Typical hours are 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., ensuring consistent work/life balance. This role requires a physical presence on site, as remote and hybrid options are not available.
Key Qualifications:
Valid Virginia Department of Education Certification Active Virginia Psychologist License Experience with functional behavior assessments and developing behavior intervention plans Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams School-based experience preferred Must complete VA Department of Social Services background check and TB test promptly
Primary Responsibilities:
Conduct student assessments and consultations Support Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) and create Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) Participate in Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) initiatives as needed Collaborate with school social workers and other staff, supporting counseling efforts on occasion Contribute to a positive and supportive educational environment With a supportive environment and stable full-time hours, this position lets you grow your skills and make meaningful connections with students and staff.
