REA-Aligned, 187-day Position Summary Rutland City Public Schools is seeking a qualified School Psychologist to join a team of dedicated professionals committed to supporting student success. This role focuses on the evaluation, assessment, and support of students with identified challenges, whether academic or behavioral, as well as consultation and collaboration with staff, families, and multidisciplinary teams. The School Psychologist plays a critical role in promoting academic achievement, positive behavior, and social-emotional well-being for all students. Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive psychoeducational evaluations to determine eligibility for special education services in accordance with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and state regulations Administer, score, and interpret a variety of standardized assessments related to cognitive, academic, behavioral, and social-emotional functioning Prepare clear, thorough, and legally compliant evaluation reports Participate in and contribute to Individualized Education Program (IEP) team meetings, including eligibility determination and goal development Collaborate with teachers, administrators, families, and related service providers to support student success Provide consultation on instructional strategies, behavioral supports, and interventions Assist in the development and implementation of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) Facilitate and/or support Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBAs) and Behavioral Intervention Plans (BIPs) Support students with social-emotional, mental health, and behavioral needs through consultation and intervention planning Assist with crisis prevention, intervention, and response as needed Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential records in compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) Engage in ongoing professional development and maintain current knowledge of best practices and legal requirements All other duties as assigned Knowledge/Skills Applicants with experience or knowledge in the following areas will be favorably considered: Knowledge of federal and state special education laws, regulations, and compliance requirements Understanding of child development, learning theory, and behavioral/mental health principles Skill in administering and interpreting standardized psychological and educational assessments Ability to analyze data and use data-driven decision-making to support student outcomes Strong consultation and collaboration skills in a multidisciplinary team environment Effective written and verbal communication skills, including report writing and presentation of complex information Knowledge of evidence-based academic and behavioral interventions Ability to manage multiple priorities, timelines, and compliance requirements Cultural competence and ability to work effectively with diverse student populations and families Familiarity with MTSS frameworks and school-based problem-solving models Qualifications Master's degree, Educational Specialist (Ed.S.), or higher in School Psychology Hold or be eligible for licensure as a School Psychologist through the Vermont Agency of Education Experience conducting psychoeducational evaluations in a school setting preferred Knowledge of special education processes, including evaluation, eligibility, and IEP development Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with educators, families, and support staff Physical Requirements Ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods and move throughout the facility as required to perform job duties Ability to sit, bend, stoop, reach, and perform repetitive motions related to teaching tasks Ability to lift and carry materials and equipment weighing up to approximately 25 pounds Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, and families in person and through various communication methods Ability to operate standard classroom and office equipment, including computers and instructional technology Ability to maintain regular attendance Schedule and duties may vary based on assignment and school needs Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position.
