Job Description

General Description:
This position is a rare opportunity to join an exciting team! The regional North Central Educational Service District 171 (NCESD 171) is seeking a dynamic team player interested in serving as a Threat Assessment Coordinator. The job of Threat Assessment Coordinator is done for the purpose of coordinating the ongoing functioning of a graduated student threat assessment system. The Threat Assessment Program will serve staff and students from 29 School Districts within our NCESD region. The coordinator will collaborate with safety personnel and intervention specialists (law enforcement, mental health specialists, intervention and resource specialists, school counselors, etc.) to manage situations and students of concern. The Threat Assessment Program offers a multi-agency team approach with a two-level threat assessment system consisting of a school-based Screening Site Team (Level 1) and a community-based Student Threat Assessment Team (Level 2). This position is based in Wenatchee, Washington.
Qualifications:
Required:
Bachelor's degree in a related field required
Preferred:
Master's degree in School Administration, Mental Health Counseling, Clinical Social Work, School Psychology, or in a relevant field of study Experience with knowledge of behavioral threat assessment, or knowledge of work on a community behavioral threat assessment team Experience working in an educational setting is preferred Skills, Knowledge, and/or
Abilities:
Ability to be trained in the Salem-Keizer Cascade Behavioral Threat Assessment Model Ability to work independently under broad organizational guidelines to achieve objectives Ability to set priorities, meet deadlines and schedules, deal with frequent interruptions, and work as part of a team Strong interpersonal skills demonstrated through the ability to build and sustain trusting, collaborative relationships with school building partners and community partner teams Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills Exceptionally high commitment to task accomplishment and flexibility Ability to travel off-site and work flexible hours as required
Job Responsibilities:
Provides training and consultation to Building Site Teams and multi-agency partners regarding threats, violence, and management of situations and students of concern Facilitates multi-agency Student Threat Assessment Teams Coordinates Student Threat Assessment Team responses throughout the
NCESD 171
region Conducts threat assessments with the Student Threat Assessment Team for the purpose of preparing a written summary of findings and recommendations, and assisting with action steps and follow-up Assists schools with threat management, safety planning, intervention, and resource development Provides threat assessment and management process information for the purpose of educating staff, parents, students, and community members Facilitates cross-school district and multi-agency communication with key staff groups Reviews the Threat Assessment Program annually, or as needed, for the purpose of analyzing effective utilization of existing resources and recommends changes for the purpose of ensuring effective outcomes Develops positive relationships with school district staff members, safety personnel, intervention specialists, community members, etc., for the purpose of gathering and conveying information Collaborates and assists the state team of STA staff from ESDs and OSPI to implement state law and guidance, and improve the state STA model, attending state TA team meetings and discussions Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective team Builds partnerships and identifies and applies for grants for the purpose of sustaining program funding Professional Growth and Responsibilities Meets or exceeds performance expectations in the following areas: Lead, Serve, and Support Team Work Problem Solving Communication Adaptability Critical Thinking Time Management Interpersonal Attendance Supports and implements NCESD policies, regulations, procedures, and administrative directives; demonstrates loyalty to the NCESD and other administrators Submits records, reports, and assignments promptly and efficiently Deals with obstacles and constraints positively Demonstrates ability to adjust to and use new approaches in the performance of his/her duties Seeks and takes advantage of opportunities for professional growth Maintains dress and appearance appropriate to a professional work setting A new employee is subject to a 180-day probationary period and must be evaluated prior to its end. If work is found to be unsatisfactory, the employee is subject to termination Other duties as assigned by the Associate Director of Student Safety and Well-being, Assistant Superintendent, or the Superintendent Physical Demands Frequent travel within the
NCESD 171
region. Some overnight travel may be required. Extended or flexible hours as necessary Sitting for extended periods of time may be required Ability to lift and carry a maximum of 40 pounds. Adequate manual and finger dexterity, hearing, speech, and vision are necessary to perform the essential functions of this position Conditions of work: 200 days per year 8 hours/day Exempt position
