Job Description

Prepares room and equipment according to patient prescription regarding treatment devices, beam modifiers and mechanical alignments. Correctly performs and documents daily check procedures on all equipment during morning warm up. Delivers radiation treatments in a timely manner as described in treatment plan, assuring accuracy. Properly performs Imaging procedures with knowledge of quality parameters (OBI and CBCT). Maintains current knowledge of simulation and therapy techniques and assists as needed. Correctly performs routine dosimetry calculations. Proficient in block cutting and fabrication of cerrobend blocks. Assures accuracy, proficiency and timeliness in completion of custom treatment devices prior to start of patient's treatment. Coordinates patient simulation and treatment schedules. Accurately orders and charges daily procedures within appropriate timeframes to avoid charge errors. Assists with patient chart check review. Maintains accurate records manually and electronically to assure appropriate patient data is available. Remains abreast of new procedures, equipment and methods along with participation in their evaluation and application. Maintains excellent customer relations. Respects the human rights and culture of every patient, family member and visitor who interacts with the department. Acts as the patient's advocate when age, mental status, knowledge deficit, or lack of social support mechanisms interferes with their ability to recognize or communicate health care needs. Helps monitor and control maintenance and operating supply expenses associated with this position. Helps develop and maintain an effective preventive maintenance program and cost containment measures that control expenses.
