The staff Radiation Oncology Therapist performs simulations, treatment setups, and radiation oncology treatments on the linear accelerator machine. The Radiation Oncology Therapist participates in all aspects of daily departmental operation including patient care, continuous quality improvement, quality control, and record keeping activities.Responsibilities:
1. Performs radiation oncology procedures in accordance with departmental protocols and procedures within standard time frames. 2. Maintains equipment in good operating condition and operates equipment according to department and manufacturer's recommendations. 3. Provides patient education and orients patients to their treatment course. 4. Is cooperative and helpful in a clear and courteous manner to co-workers, staff, patients, and visitors. 5. Maintains and exhibits a current knowledge of radiation oncology therapy and participates in continuing education. 6. Participates in Tumor Conferences and Radiation Oncology Conferences by assisting the Radiation Oncologist.Other Information:
LICENSE REQUIREMENTS
: 1. Current registration by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in radiation Therapy (T). 2. Current licensure by the State of Maine as required by the Medical Radiation Health and Safety Act.SKILLS / EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
: Must be proficient in all assigned aspects of radiation oncology and radiation protection. Two to five years of experience is preferred but not necessary.EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
: High school graduate or equivalent. Satisfactory completion of formal radiation oncology training in an AMA approved program and the ability to meet the requirements for registry by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Radiation Oncology. Competencies and Skills +Achieves Results:
