Variable hours falling within 6:00 am to 7:30 pm, typically four 10-hour shifts Monday - Friday Your role with us As a radiation therapist, you will play a critical role in delivering radiation treatments to patients with precision and care. You will work closely with radiation oncologists, physicists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure patients receive high-quality treatment while prioritizing safety and comfort. In this role, you will also support on-call scheduling responsibilities for the department, including maintaining and coordinating provider coverage to ensure continuity of care. This position participates in a rotating on-call schedule, which includes weekend and evening call coverage. Success in this role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication abilities, along with a deep commitment to delivering compassionate, personalized care to each patient. What you'll do Simulates and administers radiation treatments to patients as prescribed, carefully positioning patients and operating treatment equipment with precision to ensure accurate delivery of radiation therapy. Interprets complex treatment plans and verifies patient identification to ensure accurate delivery of radiation therapy and minimize risk of error. Images patients using various modalities and annotates portal images to verify treatment accuracy and make adjustments as needed. Observes patients for signs of side effects, reactions, or changes in condition and reports concerns to the radiation oncologist or supervisor for prompt evaluation and intervention. Provides emotional support and compassion to patients and their families, addressing concerns and questions in a clear and empathetic manner to alleviate anxiety and uncertainty. Maintains accurate and detailed records of patient treatment, including documentation of treatment delivery, patient response, and any deviations from the treatment plan. Participates in team meetings and huddles, communicating effectively with radiation oncologists, physicists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care and optimal treatment outcomes. Supports quality assurance and quality control processes, contributing to ongoing improvement of patient care and treatment delivery through active participation and feedback. Develops and maintains a patient-centered approach, prioritizing individualized care and compassion in all interactions with patients and their families to promote a positive treatment experience. Required qualifications Associate or bachelor's degree in radiation therapy. American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification in radiation therapy, or eligible to obtain within six months of hire for new graduates. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Additional information Ideal candidates will have experience with Linear Accelerators, particularly Varian Truebeam, Varian Edge, and GE Lightspeed CT, as well as expertise in SBRT, SRS, HyperArc, and respiratory management techniques. Top candidates will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to empathize with patients and families navigating challenging situations. The ability to collaborate effectively with all levels of the organization, from leadership to front-line staff, is crucial in this fast-paced environment, where 70-95 patients are treated daily on three treatment machines.
