TRUEBEAM/VARIAN, ARIA, VISION
RT, and EPIC experience highly preferred
SUMMARY:
With minimum supervision, administer radiation therapy treatments and simulations in accordance with the prescription and instructions of the Radiation Oncologist. Must be able to determine when treatment should be withheld until consultation with the Radiation Oncologist. Must also assist in treatment planning procedures including tumor localization and dosimetry.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintains consistency with Administrative and Departmental policies regarding behavior, dress, attitude, attendance, confidentiality, professionalism, and reliability Works in assigned area following applicable guidelines Maintains accurate schedules and sees patients on or before their appointed times whenever possible Explains procedures to patients and assesses patients/family members for special needs such as dietary, psychosocial, nursing, or physician consultation needs Prepares rooms and equipment for use and provides a safe and clean environment for Radiation Oncology patients Reports variations in treatment setup or dose delivery to the person in charge and/or Radiation Oncologist Reports erratic equipment operation to the person in charge and/or Biomedical personnel Observes radiation safety measures for patients and personnel Performs accurate documentation and recordkeeping Performs weekly chart checks on opposite machine and rotates that responsibility weekly with partner Performs all other duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS
Education/Skills:
Basic computer knowledge Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing Graduate of an
AMA-approved School of Radiation Therapy Technology Experience:
Preferred minimum of one year of experience in a hospital or treatment center environment Will accept students from an
AMA-approved School of Radiation Therapy Technology Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications:
ARRT (T) required Current Medical Radiologic Technologist certificate with the Texas Medical Board required Must maintain current licensure/registration/certification and provide the hospital with copies of required credentials Current BLS certification required (AHA only)
