1 Description American Traveler is seeking a Radiation Therapist with a VA license, ARRT certification, and a minimum of 2 years of experience for a Therapeutic Radiology department position at a hospital in Winchester, VA. Details Hospital-based Therapeutic Radiology department setting Cancer patient population receiving radiation treatments, including Brachytherapy procedures Procedures include simulation, IMRT, 3-D, and 2-D treatment planning, tumor localization, and dosimetry Uses Epic EMR Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-4:30 PM day shift (5x8s), with some schedule variation No weekend or on-call requirements No float requirements Requirements Active Virginia (VA) Radiation Therapist license required; VA Temporary License is acceptable with a pending VA license — license required if applicable Current ARRT certification required Current BLS certification required (AHA only; must not expire within the first 30 days of assignment start) Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Radiation Therapist US SSN required for consideration No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months Additional Information Responsibilities include accurate interpretation and delivery of radiation treatments per radiation oncologist prescription, patient simulation, and clinical instruction for radiation therapy students Performs immobilization device fabrication for 2-D, 3-D, and IMRT patients and documents set-up instructions thoroughly Serves as a liaison between oncology support staff including physicists, dosimetrists, nurses, and social workers Educates and reinforces physician and dietitian recommendations to patients regarding treatment reactions and self-care Observes radiation safety measures for both patients and personnel and monitors patients throughout treatment Required scrub color is Caribbean Blue per Valley Health dress code policy Candidates must reside more than 65 miles from the facility to be eligible; local candidates are not accepted 13-week contract
