JOB SUMMARY
This position is responsible for delivering safe and precise radiation treatments as prescribed by radiation oncologists. They operate advanced treatment and CT simulation equipment, accurately position patients, monitor them throughout therapy, and maintain detailed treatment records. Radiation therapists work closely with the oncology team to ensure highâ€'quality care while providing compassionate support and clear communication to patients undergoing radiation therapy. Recognize the signs and symptoms of developing complications during treatment and know when to withhold treatment until the patient is seen by the Radiation Oncologist. Demonstrates compliance with established hospital policies, procedures, objectives, PI(Performance Improvement), safety, environmental and infection control.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Must be registered and maintain current credential through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiation Therapy. Current license to practice in the State of Wyoming. Current CPR certification; within 60 days of employment.
Job Knowledge and Skills:
Ability to lift, move, and position patients. Ability to follow oral and written instruction. Able to integrate scientific knowledge, technical competence and patient interaction skills to provide safe and accurate procedures with compassion. Able to recognize patient conditions essential for the successful completion of the procedure. Must demonstrate an understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathology and medical terminology. Maintains a high degree of accuracy in radiographic positioning and exposure technique. Must possess, use and maintain knowledge of radiation protection and safety. Able to independently perform or assist the licensed independent practitioner in the completion of radiographic procedures. Able to prepare, administer and document activities related to medications in accordance with state and federal regulations.
