Job Description

Under direct supervision, uses the knowledge and skills to help obtain radiographs of the highest diagnostic value, while providing excellent patient care, radiation protection and customer services. Responsible for verifying patient identification. Verifies patient demographics such as name, DOB, site of injury, and side of injury prior to beginning exam. Females of childbearing age must be screened for possible pregnancy prior to being exposed to ionizing radiation. Assists the Radiology Tech with positioning patients during the imaging process. Scans X-ray film and check all x-ray orders and direct flow. Protects patient privacy and follow the guidelines of HIPPA. Responsible for recording occupational radiation exposure through the use of dosimetry devices. Ensures all machines and accessory equipment are handled with care and are routinely cleaned and serviced. Creates a calm and soothing environment for both patients and parents by clearly explaining procedures and the necessity for use of radiation. May work as a back-up receptionist by answering phone calls, handling subpoenas and checking orders. Performs other duties as assigned. High school diploma and or equivalent required. Prior experience in a clinical care setting preferred. Must have current BLS\CPR certification. Must be familiar with medical terminology Knowledge of related state and federal regulations. Bilingual Spanish preferred.
