Description:
POSITION SUMMARY
Under the general supervision of the Radiologist, provides diagnostic service for patients of all ages undergoing Diagnostic Radiology studies in the Department of Radiology. Multi-skilled technologists utilize computerized radiography equipment to produce quality images for radiological diagnosis.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Must accurately interpret a physician's instructions, routine procedural protocols, prepare and operate the radiographic equipment, associated software and equipment and position the patient to capture the appropriate images, while ensuring the radiation doses As Low As Reasonably Achievable. Document all patient related information in radiology information system in a timely manner based on patient and radiologist workflow. Acquire patients' chart data/requisition and reviews both to determine correct room set-up and learn of any specific medical problems, contraindications to the study and verify that the study being ordered correlates to the diagnostic needs. Maintain all aspects of the radiographic area including technical and clerical components to ensure proper quality assurance results, maintenance of required documentation and keep the area in a state of inspection readiness and compliance. Educate patients regarding procedure, equipment and exams to ensure understanding and safety. Provide coverage as needed (i.e. in the event of call off or extended patient schedules). Provides instruction and mentoring to new hires. Continually strives to learn new technical information and skills through attendance of periodic in-service programs and participation in professional affiliation programs All other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
Two years Radiologic Technologist experience Must be able to work independently in a fast-paced environment
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT).
Required:
Registered by American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. Connecticut Radiographer License
