PRIMARY FUNCTION
The X-Ray Technician is responsible for performing diagnostic medical radiographic procedures to support patient care and clinical decision-making. This includes positioning patients, operating radiographic equipment, ensuring image quality, and adhering to safety protocols and regulatory standards. The technician works closely with providers and clinical staff to deliver timely and accurate imaging services.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This list may not include all the duties that may be assigned. Performs basic scope diagnostic medical x-rays in accordance with provider orders and established protocols. Ensures proper patient positioning, equipment settings, and image quality for accurate diagnostic results. Adheres to radiation safety standards and maintains compliance with regulatory guidelines. Prepares and submits radiographic images for interpretation by licensed radiologists. Documents imaging procedures and maintains accurate patient records. Performs routine equipment checks and reports any maintenance needs to ensure operational readiness. Cross-trained to support additional clinical responsibilities, including performing EKGs, conducting CLIA-waived rapid laboratory tests, and assisting with general clinical office workflow.
QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION
High School Diploma and completion of a certificate, associate degree, or bachelor's degree in radiologic technology or radiologic sciences required.
EXPERIENCE
Minimum 1 year of experience with x-ray in a healthcare setting required.
LICENSURE / CERTIFICATION BLS
required. Florida Department of Health License (RT) Radiologic Technologist AND American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), or Florida Department of Health Basic Machine Operators (BMO) License for X-Ray required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of radiographic procedures and imaging techniques used in diagnostic X-ray exams Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology relevant to radiologic imaging Skill in operating radiographic equipment and positioning patients for optimal image quality Ability to follow radiation safety protocols and maintain compliance with regulatory standards Knowledge of infection control and patient care practices in clinical settings Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals Skill in documenting procedures and maintaining accurate records in electronic health systems Ability to recognize and respond to emergency situations during imaging procedures Strong attention to detail and ability to follow provider orders precisely Ability to work independently and as part of a clinical team in a fast-paced environment
