Job Description

DESCRIPTION
The MRI Technologist will provide quality imaging primarily of breast and pelvic procedures, however, may also include various organs, bones, and soft tissue as instructed on prescription for patients. The MRI Technologist will also administer contrast, start IV's and use injectors when applicable to enhance imaging. The MRI Technologist will also ensure the MRI machine is in good functioning order by assuring software updates are scheduled maintenance is done in a timely manner and based on manufactures guidelines.
Required Background:
Requires a minimum of an Associates Degree in Radiology Technology Certified through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
MRI ARRT
Registered Technologist CPR and/or BLS certification 1 year of relevant experience preferred
Responsibilities:
Greeting and explaining the MRI procedure to patients, addressing their concerns and ensuring their comfort Screen patients for any contraindications or potential risks related to the MRI procedure and positions patients for MRI utilizing established standard procedures for immobilization of area as needed to capture the desired anatomical area Operating MRI machines to acquire high-quality images of the body's internal structures and selecting and adjusting appropriate imaging protocols based on the patient's condition and the area of interest Setting up the equipment, including coils and other accessories, according to the imaging requirements Assist in MRI biopsy procedures Administer IV contract material if required based on prescription Monitoring patients during the scan through audio and visual communicating system, ensuring their safety and well-being Entering patient information and imaging parameters into the MRI system for record keeping and documentation purposes Adhering to strict safety protocols to minimize risks associated with the strong magnetic field and radiofrequency energy of the MRI machine. Performing quality control tests to ensure the functionality and calibration of the MRI equipment Perform related administrative duties such as completing forms, labeling areas and maintaining logs Artifact recognition and correction: Identifying and addressing artifacts in the acquired images that could affect diagnostic accuracy. Adjusting imaging parameters or repositioning the patient to mitigate artifacts and improve image quality Adhere to infection control policies and procedures Collate processed images in sequence of exposure and work independently and accurately complete images in a timely manner Collaborating with radiologists and other healthcare professionals to ensure accurate image interpretation and diagnosis. Communicating effectively with patients, addressing their questions and concerns throughout the imaging process Being prepared to respond to any emergencies or adverse events that may occur during the MRI procedure, such as patient discomfort or medical complications Verify patients' identity and confirm order based on physician's prescription Ability to communicate effectively with patient and assist patient in positioning for images accordingly, including lifting and moving patients with limited mobility Follow standard MRI requirements and regulations, ensuring adherence to zones Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein

$33.00 - $35.00 per hour
