Job Description:
X-Ray Technician This position performs radiology exams and maintains quality control of x-ray equipment. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with co-workers, patients, families, healthcare professionals and external vendors. Perform job duties with minimum supervision. Minimum of 1 years' experience in a similar role required. Florida BMO or ARRT license required. Ability to always demonstrate ethical and professional behavior. Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and radiation protection.
Essential Functions :
Performs Radiology Studies Secures confidence of patient during procedure by screening for relevant medical information, explaining procedures, correctly positioning patients for desired results, and cushions and shields patients as appropriate. Positions patients correctly for high quality views and varies position as necessary to adjust for patient's medical condition and abilities. Adjusts all operator controllable parameters of the equipment ensuring that the portion of the body specified receives correctly calculated exposure. Ensures control over operator selectable parameters to customize the images in areas being examined, and for pathology to be ruled out while minimizing radiation exposure. Retrieves patients from exam room and escorts patients back to exam room when exam is complete, retrieves images in Digital Radiology System and has exam pulled up and ready for provider to view. Maintains records of patients treated, examination performed, scans taken, etc., and maintains permanent record. Evaluates quality of images and reports deficiencies appropriately. Pulls and scans x-ray films into PAC's System Maintains Quality Control of X-ray Equipment Maintains and orders medical supplies. Maintains x-rays logs and required state regulated documents. Participates in yearly inspection and recertification of x-ray equipment. Notifies Supervisor and contacts Equipment Vendor if equipment is malfunctioning. Maintains quality control of equipment and coordinates preventative maintenance service calls with Equipment Vendor.
Additional Responsibilities:
Maintains an organized and clean work area. Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned. Maintains CEU's as required for licensure.
Job Qualifications:
High School graduate or GED equivalent Basic X-Ray Machine Operator (BMO) or Certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) (R) in radiology Florida license. Advanced computer proficiency Strong customer service orientation Team Player 1 year minimum required
