Work Shift Job Summary:
The Mammography Technologist performs screening and diagnostic breast and bone density exams and procedures on patients of all ages to provide physicians with data for diagnostic purposes. The Mammography Technologist works under the direction of a Radiologist and/or Manager.
Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
Demonstrates sound knowledge in the performance of Breast and Bone Density Imaging while adhering to department protocol and standards and applies the principles of ALARA to minimize exposure to patients, self and others. Performs a variety of exams including Breast and Bone Density imaging. Evaluates images for technical quality. Performs post processing of data and ensures proper patient identification is recorded. Provides optimal patient care and assumes responsibility for the patient's needs during their procedures and exemplifies the philosophy of Patient Family Centered care to all. Applies the principles of patient safety during all aspects of patient care. Identifies and responds to emergency situations in an appropriate manner. Strictly adheres to the principles of aseptic technique and hand washing policies. Assists the Radiologist with procedures and protocols. Performs other duties as assigned Complies with all Wellstar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.
Required Minimum Education:
Accredited Program Radiologic Technology Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s): All certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated. BLS
  • Basic Life Support or ARC-BLS
  • Amer Red Cross Basic Life Support or BLS-I
  • Basic Life Support
  • Instructor ARRT-M
  • ARRT Mammography ARRT-R
  • ARRT Radiography Additional License(s) and Certification(s):
Required Minimum Experience:
Minimum 2 years Diagnostic Radiography/X-Ray. Required or Minimum 1 year Breast imaging
Preferred Required Minimum Skills:
Ability to operate Radiographic equipment Ability to communicate verbally and written Possess excellent patient/customer service skills Operate Breast Imaging Unit
