Job Description
Under the direction of the department manager, performs interpretive, patient care, and technical functions to insure proper radiologic diagnosis of patients.
Essential Job Functions:
Receives and reviews requests for radiologic studies Accepts patients and assesses their condition to determine proper handling and special requirements. Explains and prepares the patient for all radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures. Interviews patients and reviews available clinical data from charts to alert nurses and/or physicians to possible contradictions for procedure. Relies on extensive knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and effects of disease processes to properly and safety position the patient for maximum diagnostic yield. Operates highly complex radiographic equipment within the radiology department, operating suites and at the patient's bedside, selecting technical factors to ensure high-quality radiographs using theA.L.A.R.A.
(as low as reasonable achievable) standards. Maintains radiographic equipment and rooms in proper working condition. Reports malfunctions and necessary repairs to supervisory personnel. Assists with examination of higher complexity such as arteriography, pyelography, etc. Performs work of equal skill, effort, and responsibility as directed and may perform work of a higher level in preparation for increased responsibility Follows hospital exposure control plans/blood borne and airborne pathogens. Maintains confidentiality of all hospital and patient information at all times. Follows HIPAA regulations and policies. Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function. Communicate with patients, families and co-workers in person, in writing and on telephone.Minimum Qualifications:
