Mammography Certification Full Job Description Position Summary :
The Mammography Imaging Lead Technologist will perform screening and diagnostic mammography and assist in other mammography procedures as required. The lead technologist will supervise the mammography technologists and be responsible for training, evaluation and staffing duties for the department. The lead technologist will also perform Quality Control and Quality Improvement activities relating to mammography. In addition, the technologist will be responsible for assisting with marketing and educational promotion of our Mammography and Stereotactic imaging services. Procedures and Examinations Performs/assists in mammography exams and procedures relating to breast health. Performs/assists in Stereotactic Biopsy procedures to the specifications and expectations of the physician involved in the biopsy. Correlates physician's orders with the order requisition and patients' identification and history to ensure appropriateness of examinations. Correctly labels films (i.e., "left", "right") for accurate readings. Participates in health fairs and promotional events related to Women's Health issues as the representative for Imaging Services. Acts as the educational liaison for Women's Breast health for the community/hospital partnership Provides patients and/or their families with the necessary information and support to safely obtain views needed for diagnosis. Performs all duties related to the Epic system for the accurate and timely transmission of the electronic data. Follows all HIPAA guidelines related to protected health information (PHI). If fully trained in DEXA, performs/assists DEXA bone density screenings. Cognizant of special needs for all mammography patients. Effectively communicates patient history in Epic study history and verbally to radiologist when appropriate. Effectively tracks the need for prior mammogram images from outside facilities. Working knowledge of all Epic technologist workflows. Supervisory Delegates projects appropriately to staff Imaging technologists in accordance with their expertise. Directly coordinates the technical activities of staff imaging technologists in mammography and stereotactic biopsy procedures. Oversees training of new employees in responsibility to ensure optimal, independent performance. Maintains current level of expertise in topics related to mammography and participates in the appropriate level of continuing education required by licensure. Evaluates and recommends new methodologies and/or instrumentation as requested or needed and implements new technology. Acts as a resource to co-workers, as well as all other internal and external customers, in technical and non-technical aspects of the Imaging Department's daily functions. Provides monthly staff schedules and submits to Manager for approval. Always ensures appropriate staffing for patient census while adapting to PTO and CCT needs. Creates UKG shifts, reviews, and utilizes pay codes, as needed, daily for technologist staff UKG time clock entries. Communicates discrepancies with employee and notifies management of concerns. Provides ongoing evaluation of staff and assists in annual formal staff evaluations. Maintains QC and regulatory documentation for the Imaging Department. Supports leadership for IEMA and Joint Commission Surveys and ACR reaccreditations.
Position Requirements :
High school diploma Formal radiologic technology training in an AMA approved school. At least four years of experience in mammography imaging Registered ARRT in radiography and mammography. Valid IDNS license.
