Job Description

Be a part of a world-class academic health-care system, University of Chicago Medicine, as an OR Radiology Technologist in the Radiology Department. We are seeking a skilled and dependable Radiology Technologist with a strong focus on operating room imaging. This role involves providing intraoperative radiographic support, maintaining sterile technique, and working closely with surgical teams to ensure timely and accurate imaging. New graduates are welcome to apply- additional training will be provided for those eager to learn and grow in the OR setting. This position will have the OR as its primary home base, with the expectation to assist in Adult General Radiology as needed. This position is a 100% onsite opportunity in Hyde Park. You will need to be based in the greater Chicagoland area. As a Radiology Technologist , you will perform diagnostic imaging studies as assigned, utilize appropriate principles of radiation protection, exercise professional judgement in the performance of imaging procedures and be responsible for providing care of patients in your charge. Eligible for up to a $20,000 sign-on bonus
Essential Job Functions:
Reviews physician's order to assure appropriateness of examination being requested. Selects appropriate exposure factors based on body part, pathology, patient's age and technical equipment characteristics. Reviews images for proper positioning, technique and identification. Performs a variety of general diagnostic studies with efficiency and high standards of quality, assures that the proper protocol is used for any given examination and evaluates images for diagnostic quality prior to submitting for interpretation. Prepares contrast media for administration to patients and assists physician in the performance of GI/GU studies. Upholds the Mission, Vision, and values of

Rotating on-call responsibilities, weekends and holiday work is required.
Required Qualifications:
Associates degree in a related medical field of study or equivalent experience Satisfactory completion of formal Radiologic technology training in an AMA approved program Certified by The American Registry of Radiological Technologists within one year of date of hire. Licensed by the Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA) Demonstrates proficiency in performing diagnostic imaging Functions proficiently with all technical equipment in diagnostic modality Demonstrates excellent customer service and interpersonal skills Good decision-making and judgment skills Maintain required continuing education as mandated by The American Registry of Radiological Technologists Strong verbal, written and analytical skills. Considerable knowledge of standard office practices and procedures along with knowledge of computers and software programs specific to the UCMC and the radiology department CPR certification
