Job Description

NATURE OF WORK
Fairfield Memorial Hospital is seeking a skilled, patient‑focused Radiologic Technologist to join our Diagnostic Imaging team. Radiologic Technologists at FMH play a key role in delivering high‑quality diagnostic services by performing radiographic procedures safely, accurately, and compassionately. This position supports patient care across all age groups by preparing and positioning patients, operating imaging equipment, and collaborating with physicians and clinical staff to ensure timely, diagnostic‑quality imaging consistent with FMH's standards of excellence. The Radiologic Technologist performs diagnostic radiographic procedures in accordance with physician orders and established protocols. This role prepares and positions patients, operates imaging equipment safely, ensures high‑quality imaging, and supports patient care across all age groups. The technologist maintains equipment, manages imaging records, and upholds FMH's standards for safety, professionalism, and service excellence.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepare and position patients of all ages for radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures. Provide patient and family education regarding imaging procedures and equipment. Determine proper positioning, technique, and exposure factors to obtain diagnostic images. Apply radiation safety principles to protect patients, staff, and self. Document procedures and communicate patient status or concerns to appropriate care team members. Operate portable radiography equipment safely and effectively. Maintain imaging equipment cleanliness and ensure supplies are stocked. Perform CT, mammography, or ultrasound exams if appropriately credentialed. Transport patients as needed and assist with departmental workflow. Maintain strict confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism and customer‑focused behavior. Participate in required in‑service training, safety drills, and departmental meetings. Perform additional duties as assigned to support departmental operations.
COMPENSATION
$27.00 per hour + Shift Differential (
Weekday Night:
$2.50 per hour;
Weekend:
$3.50 per hour)
SCHEDULE
Nights; Weekends; As needed

EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
Graduate of an approved Radiologic Technology program; Certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT); Licensed by the Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA), Division of Nuclear Safety.
Preferred:
Advanced registry in CT and/or Mammography.
EXPERIENCE
Preferred:
Clinical or professional experience in diagnostic radiography; Experience working with diverse patient populations. SKILLS Strong technical knowledge of radiographic procedures and equipment Ability to read and interpret technical instructions, regulations, and procedure manuals Effective communication and customer service skills Ability to apply mathematical concepts relevant to imaging procedures Strong critical thinking and problem‑solving abilities Ability to work independently during night and weekend shifts
