What You'll Do As a Mammography Modality Coordinator, you will report report to the Director, Diagnostic Imaging. Provides functional guidance to Technologists and students in assigned area. Regularly performs a variety of routine and complex imaging procedures as a staff Technologist. Mammography Modality Coordinator Job Responsibilities Performs ultrasound examinations according to department protocols, policies, and procedures by: Obtaining pertinent clinical history for the reading radiologist Communicating with referring physicians and other healthcare personnel Providing phone reports when indicated Explaining procedures to the patient and involving them in their care Preparing images on PACS Accurately completing associated worksheets or reporting templates for the radiologist Applying appropriate charges Contributes to overall department effectiveness by: Maintaining
ARDMS/ARRT
(S) certification Orienting new staff and students when requested Accurately recording daily timekeeping (clock-ins, YTO/PTO, holidays, call, or timely Active Staffer entries—maximum of 10 per year) Cleaning and maintaining equipment and reporting malfunctions to the Coordinator Completing other assigned job-related duties and projects Organizational responsibilities include: Attending and participating in department meetings and staying accountable for shared information Completing mandatory education, annual competencies, and department-specific training on time Completing annual employee health requirements within established timeframes Maintaining license/certification and registration in good standing throughout the fiscal year Maintaining current BCLS (CPR) and other certifications as required Consistently following universal precautions, using protective equipment, and applying ergonomic techniques Adhering to regulatory agency requirements, survey processes, and compliance standards Complying with organization and department policies Being available to work overtime or additional/alternative shifts as needed What You Bring As a Mammography Modality Coordinator, this role requires an in-depth knowledge of radiation-emitting equipment and strong analytical skills to determine the most effective methods for obtaining radiographs based on the specifics of each case, ensuring images are clear, accurate, and free of distortion while providing technical guidance to improve imaging quality. Demonstrates the ability to maintain concentration and attention to detail for extended periods, particularly when positioning patients, operating diagnostic imaging equipment, and reviewing images produced by staff Technologists. Possesses excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with strong interpersonal abilities to interact effectively with patients who may be experiencing physical or emotional stress, as well as with department staff and other hospital personnel such as nurses and physicians when exchanging patient information. Additionally, demonstrates leadership and training capabilities by providing functional guidance, instruction, and support to Technologists and students within the assigned areas. Required Qualifications The knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated below are normally acquired through the successful completion of an Associate's Degree or equivalent from an approved school of radiology, nuclear medicine or ultrasound. Registration by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or registered in ultrasound, physics or similar governing agencies is required. Demonstrated leadership skills are preferred.
