Job Description

Summary The Student Radiology Technologist is responsible for assisting the designated radiology mentor with care of all age groups within the Standard of Care set by Parkview Health and the Indiana Department of Health, Ohio Department of Health, ARDMS or CNMT student licensure/guidelines. Under the direct supervision of the designated radiology mentor, participates in operating basic imaging equipment (x-ray, ultrasound or NM), ensuring correct position and settings for optimal image quality. Assists radiology mentors by verifying patient identity, discussing patient histories, participating in team meetings about findings and how to recognize abnormalities as well as helping refine imaging techniques and parameters to provided high-quality images. Ensures patient safety by following radiation protection protocols and ensuring compliance with safety standards when working with radiology equipment. Recognizes emergent situations and activates assistance as needed. Assists other areas and shifts as needed. Adheres to Parkview Standards of Behavior. Education Must be currently enrolled in an accredited Medical Imaging program and in good academic standing. Licensure/Certification CPR Certification. Indiana or Ohio State Board of Health Student Radiation License if required for modality of choice. Other Qualifications Basic introductory knowledge of imaging the various anatomical structures. Must be able to lift 50 lbs., 100 lbs. shared lifting. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of general computer skills and applications. Demonstrates ability to multi-task and contribute to a team effort in caring for patients.
