Under the direction of a Radiologist, the Radiologic Technologist performs radiologic procedures to evaluate pathological entities as ordered by a physician. This role prepares patients, determines appropriate radiographic techniques and safety practices, and ensures accurate imaging and documentation according to department protocols. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day.
Job Details Schedule:
Rotating shift time; 8 shift hours, minimum 40 hours per week; every other weekend
Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent; registered in Radiography with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) or registry eligible (if registry eligible, registry must be obtained within 6 months of the date of hire); Basic Life Support (BCLS) healthcare provider certification; ability to maintain required continued education hours Performs radiologic procedures and supports appropriate patient preparation, including explaining the examination procedure to patients Reviews clinical data on the requisition, obtains additional patient medical history information as necessary, and performs appropriate examinations Prepares the procedure room and replenishes stock and supplies as needed Analyzes anatomical structures, sets up equipment, performs radiologic procedures, and manually controls equipment to obtain proper diagnostic information; utilizes patient immobilization as needed May select and administer intravenous contrast media; monitors patients for possible reactions and provides immediate care if a reaction occurs Performs imaging using radiation protection principles, including shielding and applying appropriate equipment settings and other ALARA techniques May prepare and set up sterile equipment, monitors, and supplies required for procedures; follows infection control practices and ensures adequate supplies are properly stored Follows department standards for patient care functions that support patient safety, privacy, confidentiality, comfort, and legal/ethical rights Completes required worksheets, logs, patient records, and documentation When needed, assumes responsibility for teaching and educating new hires and students while maintaining assigned responsibilities and duties Manages image delivery into PACS by resolving image exceptions and confirming image/series counts Completes study indexing in the Radiology Information System (RIS), including study begin and end and completion of the study Reviews and confirms, as necessary, with Radiologist clinical protocols before performing studies Demonstrates team member standards of excellence, including AIDET, open communication, responding in a timely manner, displaying a positive attitude, fostering innovation, and respecting diversity Performs required documentation in the medical record and within the radiology information system to support clinical and billing functions
