Job Description

Performs screening and diagnostic breast imaging in accordance with established departmental policies and procedures to ensure the best possible patient care services are delivered. Schedules staff, oversees training and clinically supervises mammography staff. Provides instructions for exam/procedures. Uses x-ray and mammographic technology and techniques to assist in the diagnosis of patient medical problems for patients through the age continuum. 1.
  • Commits to the KRMC mission, vision, values and goals and consistently demonstrates our core values.
2. Provides input into staff job performance and competency evaluations; monitors clinical performance, provides guidance and constructively influences positive staff morale. Reports deficiencies to Radiology Manager. 3. Works with managers to complete process improvement activities (i.e. perform quality monitoring and data gathering, designs and manages workflow processes, researches regulations, and develops staff orientation and training tools). 4.
  • Coordinates and designs mammography staff work schedules to ensure appropriate coverage, assigns duties to staff to maintain quality patient care and patient flow to ensure appropriate coverage and achieve production goals, reviews and edits timecards. 5.
  • Performs all types of studies to include mammography, and breast interventional procedures, practices radiation safety for patients, staff, and self. 6.
  • Ensures all state and federal regulatory requirements for mammography are met and mammography accreditation (American College of Radiology) requirements are followed. Ensures proper documentation for regulatory and accreditation requirements. 7.
  • Coordinates and oversees the Medical Physicist requirements for all mammography equipment and radiologist reading stations. Maintains the integrity of the mammography acquisition/reading station server. 8.
  • Works with the Radiologists and Radiology Manager to evaluate images for American College of Radiology (ACR) submission for accreditation and technical quality. 9.
  • Optimally demonstrates patient anatomy through proper positioning and selection of technical factors and implements imaging procedures for patients of all ages. 10. Performs routine quality assurance at required times (daily, monthly, annually). 11.
  • Competently operates all diagnostic and mammography equipment and support systems to include EPIC and PACS and provides support to staff for equipment and computer systems. 12. Utilizes department computer systems and PACS to review patient history and provide accurate documentation of studies; maintains patient confidentiality. 13.
  • Coordinates exams within the department and with other departments to provide expedient and complete care; communicates with medical staff, coworkers, patients, families, and other hospital staff to ensure quality patient care.
14. Coordinates the department's quality improvement plan as required; coordinates and maintains quality assurance and daily work activities; assists in the future planning of the department. 15. Cleans, disinfects and maintains equipment as necessary, notifies Radiology Manager of equipment problems and calls appropriate service vendors as needed. 16. Works collaboratively with departments in setting up new products, ordering supplies and assisting with stocking. Keeps work areas properly supplied. 17. Participates in student clinical education and coordinates department orientation for new employees. 18. Accesses and administers drugs and biologicals that are pertinent to essential job functions in accordance with Medical Center procedures. 19. Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise. 20. Participates in meetings, committees and department projects as assigned. 21. Performs other related projects and duties as assigned
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Graduate of a school of radiologic technology with current certification by the American Registry of Radiologic technologists required. Certification by the ARRT in mammography required. Current Medical Radiographer licensure from the State of Nebraska required. Minimum five (5) years of combined experience providing direct patient care in Mammography required. Required to meet all MQSA requirements.
OTHER CREDENTIALS / CERTIFICATIONS
Basic Life Support (CPR) certification required. Bryan Health recognizes American Heart Association (for healthcare professionals), American Red Cross (for healthcare professionals) and the Military Training Network.
