Varies but MRI hours: Mon-Thurs 6:45am-8pm & Friday 6:45am-7pm

Essential Duties:
(This list may not include all the duties assigned) Sends MRI exams for overreads. Assists patients in obtaining all patient information before MRI exam. Operates MRI equipment in a safe and efficient manner. Reports any equipment problems immediately to supervisor. Performs all types of orthopaedic radiologic procedures. Takes X-rays following established procedures for patient care and safety. Instructs patients regarding procedures. Observes patients for vital signs during exam. Uses a variety of radiation protection and shielding materials. Follows prescribed safety standards in operating radiologic equipment. Ensures equipment is in working order. Reports equipment malfunctions to supervisor. Selects appropriate radiation exposure by adjusting equipment on an individual patient basis. Maintains quality assurance by examining films for properties such as density, contrast, definition, magnification, and any artifacts. Maintains examination rooms by stocking necessary medical and radiologic supplies. Develops and processes radiologic film. Delivers, picks up, and returns films. Attends required staff and educational meetings. Assists in the training of employees. Maintains patient confidentiality.
Film handling:
Maintains radiographs by sorting and filing. Requests outside films for patients' appointments and for surgery. Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of the job. Perform related work as required.
Qualifications:
Completion of course in radiologic technology approved by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. Current certification (ARRT) with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. Current state certification as a Medical Radiographer.
Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of anatomy and physiology to perform x-ray testing. Knowledge of radiology equipment. Knowledge of safety hazards common to radiology including equipment, body mechanics, and patient movements. Skilled in properly positioning patients. Skilled in identifying equipment problems. Skilled in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, and the public. Ability to apply written guidelines and standardized work practices.
