Job Overview:
The Mammography Technologist performs all Mammography exams as required by physician orders. The technologist is competent in the production of quality for proper treatment and diagnosis by physician.
Qualifications:
Required:
Graduate of an approved School of Radiologic Technology. New Jersey licensure. ARRT certified in Radiology and Mammography. BLS through the American Heart Association Knowledge of all mammography exams including needle localizations, stereotactic breast biopsies, knowledge of ACR standards and MQSA regulations, and DXA imaging. Excellent customer service skills and ability to be flexible with patient volumes, schedules and working locations as needed.
Scheduling Requirements:
Day Shift Per Diem Scheduling Must be willing to travel to other working locations as needed.
Essential Functions:
Assists physicians in the performance of various studies needle localization and stereotactic breast biopsy using standard department protocols and appropriate radiation protection and infection control procedures Maintains radiation exposure reading within the ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) limits Ability to perform all QC testing for ACR/MQSA/NJDEP, knowledge of RIS/PACs environment, and knowledge of mammography reporting systems Performs excellent patient care. Recognizes clinical and emergent problems that may interfere with exams and take appropriate action to resolve them and produce the most desirable outcome Demonstrates radiation protection and safety for patients and staff as outlined in department protocols and regulatory guidelines Demonstrates a thorough understanding of mammography principles and theory, anatomy, positioning, and technique for obtaining optimal imaging studies Adheres to department policies and protocols to ensure that all studies are optimized for interpretation Performs other duties as assigned
