Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a highly skilled IR Technologist to join our advanced medical imaging team. The IR Technologist will be responsible for performing interventional radiology procedures with precision and care, supporting diagnostic and therapeutic interventions across diverse clinical settings. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of medical imaging modalities, patient safety protocols, and the ability to collaborate effectively with physicians and healthcare professionals. The ideal candidate will demonstrate expertise in various imaging techniques, including nuclear medicine, PET scans, CT, mammography, DEXA scans, and X-ray procedures, while maintaining the highest standards of patient care and safety.
Requirements Patient Age group:
Adult to geriatric (primarily adult cardiovascular/interventional patients)
Ratios:
Typically 1 tech per procedure room/case; may assist multiple rooms depending on workflow.
Minimum Experience:
1-2+ years IR/Special Procedures/Cath Lab experience preferred.
Ventilators:
Basic ventilator Duties Prepare patients for interventional radiology procedures by explaining the process and ensuring comfort and compliance. Operate advanced imaging equipment such as fluoroscopy, ultrasound, CT scanners, PET scanners, mammography units, and DEXA machines to facilitate accurate diagnosis and treatment. Assist physicians during minimally invasive procedures by providing real-time imaging guidance. Maintain strict aseptic techniques to prevent infection and ensure patient safety during procedures. Monitor patient vital signs throughout interventions and respond promptly to any adverse reactions or emergencies. Document procedure details accurately within electronic medical records and ensure compliance with regulatory standards. Support diagnostic evaluations by performing appropriate imaging studies based on physician orders. Maintain equipment calibration, perform routine quality control checks, and troubleshoot technical issues efficiently. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including emergency medicine staff, radiologists, and trauma center personnel to optimize patient outcomes. Stay current with advancements in medical imaging technology and participate in ongoing professional development. Skills Extensive knowledge of nuclear medicine procedures and protocols. Experience working in urgent care settings, emergency rooms, or Level I/II trauma centers. Proficiency in sonography, mammography, DEXA scans, X-ray imaging, and PET/CT scans. Strong understanding of human physiology and anatomy relevant to diagnostic radiology. Familiarity with medical terminology and diagnostic evaluation processes. Expertise in aseptic techniques to maintain sterile environments during invasive procedures. Ability to interpret complex medical images accurately for diagnostic purposes. Knowledge of emergency medicine protocols and trauma response procedures. Excellent communication skills for patient interaction and interdisciplinary collaboration.
