X Ray Technician Columbus, OH Full-TimeOn-Site$85,000 - $125,000 /yr Posted April 27, 2026 XRay Technician (Radiologic Technologist) Position Overview We are seeking a skilled and compassionate XRay Technician (Radiologic Technologist) to join our imaging team. The ideal candidate will perform diagnostic radiographic procedures, operate and maintain Xray and digital imaging equipment, ensure radiation safety (ALARA), and provide highquality patient care. This role supports accurate imaging for diagnosis and treatment planning, adheres to imaging protocols and quality assurance standards, and collaborates with radiologists and clinical teams to deliver timely and safe imaging services. Key Responsibilities Perform diagnostic radiographic examinations (chest, abdomen, extremities, trauma, orthopedic and pediatric imaging) following established protocols and physician orders. Operate Xray equipment including digital radiography (DR), computed radiography (CR), mobile/portable units, Carm systems, and assist with fluoroscopy as required. Position patients accurately and safely, using immobilization and positioning aids when necessary to obtain diagnostic images while minimizing repeats. Select appropriate exposure techniques and optimize dose using ALARA principles; monitor and document radiation doses when applicable. Process and evaluate images for diagnostic quality, perform basic image postprocessing, and route images to PACS using DICOM standards. Assist with contrast media administration and verify patient history and allergies when contrast is used; perform IV placement/venipuncture as trained and authorized. Follow and participate in departmental quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) programs for equipment, imaging processors and digital systems. Adhere to infection control, aseptic technique, and patient safety standards; monitor and report any adverse events or equipment issues. Communicate effectively with patients and clinical staff, provide patient education and reassurance, and document procedures in the electronic medical record (EMR). Assist with trauma and emergency imaging, including rapid positioning and portable imaging in critical care areas; support resuscitation teams as needed. Support mammography or CT/MRI imaging workflows when crosstrained; escalate complex cases to radiologists and follow established protocols. Maintain compliance with HIPAA, institutional policies, licensing and regulatory requirements; participate in continuing education and competency assessments. Qualifications Graduate of an accredited radiologic technology program (associate or bachelors degree preferred). Registered Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) certification in Radiography or equivalent; state licensure where required. Current Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification; advanced certifications a plus. Proven experience operating Xray equipment including DR and CR systems; experience with mobile/portable radiography and Carm operation preferred. Knowledge of radiation safety (ALARA), exposure technique selection, dose optimization and monitoring. Familiarity with
PACS, DICOM
workflows, image processing, and electronic medical record (EMR) systems. Clinical skills such as patient positioning, trauma and orthopedic imaging, chest and abdominal radiography, and pediatric protocols. Experience with contrast media administration and IV placement/venipuncture, if authorized and trained. Understanding of QA/QC procedures, infection control and aseptic technique, and imaging protocol development. Basic knowledge of CT and MRI fundamentals and willingness to crosstrain in advanced modalities. Strong communication, teamwork and patient care skills with the ability to remain calm in emergency settings. Attention to detail, excellent problemsolving skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fastpaced environment. Mammography certification and additional modality certifications are a plus; willingness to pursue continuing education and credentialing.
