This role offers flexible 8- or 10-hour shifts with rotating coverage Monday-Friday (6:00 AM-10:00 PM) and weekends (7:00 AM-3:00 PM), plus on-call, weekend, and holiday rotations. SIGN ON BONUS
up to $20,000 for a 2-year commitment. The MRI Technologist is a valued step in the UPMC Imaging career ladder, with opportunities for continued growth and advancement. Title and salary will be determined based upon education and nursing experience.
Responsibilities:
Performs all duties in accordance with system-wide competencies, behaviors, and organizational standards. Maintains MRI safety practices at all times, ensuring a safe environment for patients and staff. Demonstrates and maintains clinical competency across all exams and imaging equipment. Reviews, processes, and archives imaging studies accurately and efficiently. Reviews patient history and physician orders prior to exams, presenting all relevant information in accordance with established protocols. Accurately identifies patients using two patient identifiers and follows universal protocol for all procedures. Applies departmental protocols to ensure optimal image quality, including proper preparation, labeling, and administration of contrast when required. Documents patient history and exam details in the electronic medical record in a timely and accurate manner. Provides exceptional patient care by communicating clearly, addressing concerns, and creating a respectful, supportive environment. Collaborates effectively with team members and interdisciplinary departments to ensure efficient patient flow and high-quality care. Communicates procedure instructions clearly to patients, helping to reduce anxiety and ensure cooperation. Ensures all exams are properly coded, tracked, and documented within the RIS system, including accurate charge entry and image archiving for interpretation. Performs other duties as assigned.
