Job Description

Summary:
Perform all functions of Radiology Technologist as well as be competent and actively perform Computed Tomography procedures.
Experience:
Minimum of six months preferred as a registered technologist; CT experience preferred.
Education, Licenses, Certifications:
Graduate of a 24-month AMA approved radiologic technology program ARRT(R) certification required ARRT (CT) preferred or obtained within 1 year of hire date NYS injection license (if working in NY State facility)
Essential Functions:
A. Performs diagnostic radiologic procedures Adjust radiographic equipment to correct settings for each examination. Accurate positioning of patients Performs appropriate QA on images generated prior to submission to Radiologist. This includes accurate labeling of left or right side, patient name, MRN #, date and time, as well as technique. B.
Performs all CT procedures:
Appropriately perform all CT procedures per radiologist protocol IV insertion per aseptic technique Administer IV contrast per policy C. Proficient in-patient care activities related to radiology Ability to relate to patient's information pertaining to ordered procedures. Follow protocols in dealing with patients with infectious diseases. Demonstrate competency in patient preparation including informed consent, and injection of IV contrast. D. Knowledgeable in the correct use of the Radiology Information System, scheduling, tracking, completion, down-time procedures. E. Works as part of a team to maintain high standards in radiology. Attends in-service programs as scheduled. Ability to work cooperatively with other technologists, nurses and healthcare professionals. Works to keep morale high, does not complain to him/herself but works at finding a solution to a particular problem. Seeks help and answers to questions when they are not sure. Perform examinations in a confident, timely fashion. Provides for patient's modesty, comfort and privacy. Demonstrates willingness to accept non-routine work assignments, as appropriate.
Other Duties:
Cleaning and restocking rooms daily. Ability to deal with stressful situations (e.g. trauma) Reports problems occurring with equipment to Imaging Leadership Must be able to transport portable equipment to operating room suite, emergency room, nursing units, and morgue. Meets regularly at Radiology departmental meetings. Must have ability to react quickly to emergency situations such as patient fainting, patient being unsteady while standing for procedures, if unsafe situations occur (such as a fire), getting the patient to safety and sounding alarm. Must be able to work all shifts, including weekends and holidays, on a scheduled basis. Must be able to lift, push, reach, bend, stoop, and walk to care for patients. Functions as a multi-modality technologist and may perform exams in other modalities based on training levels (i.e bone density, mammography, etc) ; not required. Other duties as assigned
