X-Ray Technologist Location:
IHS facility Pine Ridge, SD 57770
Pay Rate:
$50 per hour + $1,246 weekly Travel Stipends (If applicable) Payroll is processed on a biweekly basis.
Schedule:
TBD mornings/nights/on-call
Contract Length:
10 weeks with the option to extend This is a federal contract in the bidding process open to locals and travelers
Job Description :
We are seeking a skilled X-Ray Technologist to join an Indian Health Service facility in Pine Ridge, South Dakota. This position offers the opportunity to provide essential diagnostic imaging services while working alongside a dedicated healthcare team committed to serving Native American communities. The ideal candidate will have strong radiography experience, excellent patient care skills, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of image quality and radiation safety.
Requirements:
Current ARRT certification or equivalent radiologic technologist credential accepted by the Government Demonstrated experience performing routine and complex radiographic examinations Knowledge of digital radiography (DR) and computed radiography (CR) systems Understanding of radiation safety practices, including ALARA principles, shielding, and exposure control Ability to meet all IHS credentialing, onboarding, security, and background requirements Ability to comply with radiation monitoring and dosimeter badge requirements
Responsibilities:
Perform routine and advanced diagnostic X-ray examinations according to physician orders and clinical protocols Operate radiographic equipment to produce high-quality diagnostic images Position patients accurately and select appropriate exposure techniques to ensure optimal image quality Minimize repeat imaging while maintaining patient safety and radiation protection standards Monitor patient comfort and provide compassionate, patient-centered care throughout imaging procedures Maintain compliance with infection control, safety, and quality assurance standards Document procedures and patient information accurately within the electronic health record Collaborate with radiologists, providers, and clinical staff to support efficient patient care Adhere to Indian Health Service policies and accrediting agency requirements Assist with equipment maintenance and report operational issues as needed Expected hours: 40 per week
