Radiologic Technologist Summary:
The Radiology Technologist will operate computerized and manual radiological equipment for diagnostic purposes.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
None.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Using proper radiation protection and precautions, prepares and operates radiographic and portable equipment. Positions patients to obtain appropriate radiographic exposures. Maintains computerized records, files, and/or reports. Participates in quality control and quality assurance studies. Assists the supervising radiologist with administrative functions. Must be able to work stand-by and call-back duty as scheduled by department supervisor. Must take call a minimum of 1 weekend per month. Performs other duties as required. Qualifications Required Skills/Abilities Knowledge of anatomy and physiology. Knowledge of the current trends and techniques of x-ray technology. Ability to learn to conduct quality control studies; learn to use computerized radiologic equipment; learn to operate a computer for recordkeeping purposes. Ability to establish effective working relationships with patients and staff.
Education and Experience:
Certified Radiologic Technologist (RT) licensed through the Texas Medical Board and registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) required. Certification in CT preferred but will cross-train Continuing education must be maintained at incumbents expense Possession of CPR certification required One year of experience desirable Ability to speak in English and Spanish highly desirable
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods standing, reaching and bending. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times. Physical strength and agility to position patients for a variety of diagnostic examinations.
