Location:
Chesapeake, VA Overview We are seeking a dedicated Radiology / Cardiology - MRI Technician to join our healthcare team. In this role, you will be responsible for performing advanced magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) procedures for patients with cardiovascular and other medical conditions. Your expertise will support accurate diagnosis and treatment planning by capturing high-quality images of the heart, blood vessels, and related structures. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills, comprehensive knowledge of medical imaging modalities, and a commitment to patient safety and comfort. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to innovative healthcare delivery within a dynamic clinical environment. Duties Operate MRI equipment to acquire detailed images of cardiac and vascular structures, ensuring optimal image quality for diagnostic evaluation. Prepare patients for imaging procedures by explaining the process, positioning them correctly, and ensuring their comfort throughout the scan. Utilize additional imaging techniques such as CT scans, DEXA scans (dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry), and sonography as needed for comprehensive assessment. Maintain strict aseptic techniques to prevent infection and ensure patient safety during invasive or sterile procedures. Collaborate with physicians and radiologists to interpret imaging results, providing technical insights for accurate diagnosis. Apply physiological knowledge to optimize imaging protocols tailored to individual patient needs. Ensure all medical terminology used in reports is precise and clearly documented. Maintain detailed records of procedures performed, equipment calibration, and quality assurance measures. Adhere to safety standards related to radiation exposure, contrast administration, and patient monitoring during imaging sessions. Stay current with advancements in medical imaging technology and participate in ongoing professional development. Skills Proficiency in operating MRI systems with a focus on cardiac and vascular imaging. Experience with CT scans, DEXA scans, sonography, and other diagnostic imaging modalities. Strong understanding of human anatomy and physiology relevant to cardiovascular health. Knowledge of medical terminology used in radiology and cardiology disciplines. Ability to perform diagnostic evaluations based on acquired images; interpret findings accurately. Familiarity with aseptic techniques essential for maintaining sterile environments during invasive procedures. Excellent communication skills to explain procedures clearly to patients and collaborate effectively with healthcare teams. Attention to detail in image acquisition, documentation, and quality control processes. Basic understanding of medical terminology related to radiology and cardiology diagnostics. This position is integral to delivering high-quality patient care through precise imaging techniques.
