Job Description

Radiologic Technologist (X-Ray) - Full-Time Primary Care & Sports Medicine Position Summary The Radiologic Technologist performs diagnostic X-ray examinations in a busy outpatient primary care and sports medicine practice. This full-time role focuses on high-quality musculoskeletal and general diagnostic imaging while ensuring patient safety, efficient clinic workflow, and compliance with Virginia licensing and radiation safety regulations. Key Responsibilities
  • Perform diagnostic X-ray exams with emphasis on musculoskeletal imaging (extremities, spine, joints)
  • Position patients correctly to obtain high-quality images while minimizing radiation exposure (ALARA)
  • Verify imaging orders, patient identity, and clinical indications prior to exams
  • Explain procedures clearly and provide compassionate care to patients with acute injuries or limited mobility
  • Operate, clean, and maintain X-ray equipment according to regulatory and manufacturer standards
  • Perform routine quality control and report equipment issues promptly
  • Accurately document imaging procedures in the electronic health record (EHR)
  • Coordinate with providers, nursing staff, and medical assistants to support patient flow
  • Maintain compliance with HIPAA, infection control, and radiation safety standards
Qualifications Required:
  • Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program
  • Current ARRT certification in Radiography (R)
  • Active Virginia radiologic technologist license (as required by the Virginia Board of Medicine)
  • Knowledge of outpatient diagnostic imaging and radiation safety
Preferred:
  • Experience in primary care, orthopedics, urgent care, or sports medicine
  • Strong musculoskeletal imaging skills
  • Experience with outpatient EHR and PACS systems
  • Excellent patient communication and customer service skills Schedule & Employment Status Full-time position. Typical weekday clinic hours. Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
  • Ability to lift, position, and assist patients as needed
  • Manual dexterity to safely operate imaging equipment Work Environment Outpatient primary care and sports medicine clinic with a fast-paced, patient-centered environment.
