Job Description

Sentara Port Warwick is hiring a PRN Radiologic Technologist! Why Choose Sentara Port Warwick? Sentara Port Warwick in Newport News offers advanced imaging services, including X-ray, on a convenient neighborhood campus with 24-hour emergency care, primary and specialty services, and comprehensive patient support. Perform urgent X-ray imaging for emergency and trauma cases in the ER, rapidly identifying fractures, dislocations, foreign objects, and lung conditions. Conduct routine and specialized musculoskeletal, chest, and abdomen radiography studies for orthopedic injuries, chronic bone diseases, heart and lung health, and abdominal pain assessments. Assist with dynamic fluoroscopy procedures and, based on credentials, provide cross-coverage for advanced imaging modalities such as CT, MRI, mammography, and bone densitometry. Position Overview The X-Ray Technologist conducts general diagnostic radiological imaging studies under physician supervision. This role ensures high-quality imaging, patient care, and adherence to department protocols. Key Responsibilities Perform X-rays, including accurate patient positioning and operation of radiology equipment, to capture required anatomy and pathology. Prepare exam rooms, equipment, and necessary materials or medications, maintaining appropriate supply inventory for daily operations. Explain X-ray procedures to patients, ensure patient safety and comfort, and complete all necessary departmental documentation and electronic records.
