Perform a variety of outpatient and inpatient breast imaging procedures at the Sentara Comprehensive Breast Center, an ACR Breast Imaging Center of Excellence. Conduct both screening (2D/3D) and diagnostic mammograms, as well as advanced interventional procedures such as biopsies and wire localizations. Assist with specialized breast imaging modalities, including breast ultrasound and, as needed, breast MRI. Mammography Technologist Position Overview Perform general screening and diagnostic mammography and/or bone densitometry imaging studies under physician supervision, ensuring quality imaging and patient care. Mammography Technologist Key Responsibilities Accurately position patients for both screening and diagnostic mammograms or bone density studies to demonstrate appropriate anatomy and potential pathology. Operate radiation-producing equipment and electronic radiology systems safely and efficiently. Prepare exam rooms, equipment, and medications, and maintain inventory of necessary supplies. Clearly explain procedures to patients to ensure comfort and understanding. Complete all required departmental documentation accurately and in a timely manner. Mammography Technologist Qualifications ARRT (Required) Will consider registry eligible graduate, must be registered within 180 days of hire Must be ARRT (M) certified within 1 year of hire
