Under the direction of the Director of Radiology and the Chief Radiologist, the Computed Tomography Technologist is responsible for the care and safety of patients who have CT exams; use of CT equipment; maintaining records pertaining to CT; stocking supplies and organizing the schedule.DEPT. SCOPE OF SERVICE
The Department of Radiology at Brattleboro Memorial Hospital is a consultative service that will provide services in the following categories: diagnostic radiology, nuclear medicine, ultrasound, computed tomography, interventional radiography, MRI, bone density and mammography. The department offers services 24 hours a day, seven days a week to inpatients, outpatients and emergency room patients of all ages. Whereas x-ray procedures constitute the majority of our service, we also provide related quality control (including protecting patients and staff from harmful radiation), quality assurance monitoring and evaluation, marketing and continuing education of staff and patients. Radiology is comprises of licensed technologists, certified and licensed nuclear medicine technologists, secretarial staff and licensed radiologists. We render reports of all of our imaging studies to referring physicians within 24 to 36 hours of completion of the exam. RequirementsQUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Formal AMA approved school of Radiologic Technology required.Experience:
Previous, recent experience in all areas of radiologic technology, in a hospital setting required. CT experience preferredLicensure/Certification:
Certificate for Advanced Level Testing in CT (or within 1 year of hire)CT Tech:
Certificate for Advanced Level Testing in CT (or within 1 year of hire) Certified in CPR. Certified by the ARRT required, except those technologists credentialed through state certification which the State of Vermont Board of Radiologic Technology delegates approval power by rule and hired prior to January 1, 2000. Licensed by theState of Vermont Mental Efforts:
Ability to manage physically aggressive patients. Ability to transport patients on the patient mobilizer or in a wheelchair. Ability to wear protective lead aprons and gloves during examinations. Ability to work within a limited space and in bright and low lighted examination rooms. Ability to see objects closely, hear normal sounds with some background noise.Environment & Working Conditions:
Potential for exposure to electrical and radiation hazards, electromagnetic radiation as in CRT's (VDT's). Potential for exposure to communicable disease or body fluids.OSHA CATEGORY OSHA
Category I- Tasks that involve exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues require use of techniques of Universal Precautions as evidenced with blood borne pathogens standards.
