Job Overview:
Real Care is a residential care facility for the elderly located in Bakersfield, California, dedicated to providing a safe, supportive, and enriching environment for our residents. We are committed to delivering compassionate, high-quality care that honors the dignity and individuality of every person in our community. About the Role. We are seeking a compassionate and energetic Activities Director to develop and lead a meaningful activities program for our residents. This role is central to resident quality of life — bringing joy, purpose, and connection to the people in our care every day.Key Responsibilities:
Plan, coordinate, and implement a diverse calendar of daily activities tailored to residents' physical, cognitive, social, and emotional needs. Conduct individual assessments of residents' interests, abilities, and preferences to personalize programming. Organize group and individual activities including arts and crafts, music, exercise, games, outings, and holiday events. Recruit, train, and supervise activity aides and volunteers Maintain accurate documentation of resident participation and activity plans in compliance with CDSS regulations. Collaborate with care staff, families, and outside vendors to enrich programming. Coordinate community involvement, entertainment, and intergenerational programs. Manage the activities budget and inventory of supplies. Ensure all activities meet the needs of residents with dementia, Alzheimer's, and varying mobility levels.Qualifications:
Minimum 2 years of experience in activities programming, preferably in an RCFE, assisted living, or senior care setting Certified Activity Professional (CAP) or Modular Education Program for Activity Professionals (MEPAP) certification preferred. Knowledge of Title 22 regulations governing RCFEs in California CPR/First Aid certified (or willing to obtain) Strong interpersonal and communication skills Creative, patient, and genuinely passionate about working with the elderly Proficient in basic computer skills for scheduling and documentation Working Conditions Full-time, Monday-Friday with occasional evenings/weekends for special events Physical ability to assist with activities, including standing, walking, and light lifting Must pass Live Scan background clearance per CDSS requirements Compensation Competitive salary commensurate with experience.
