In this rewarding role, you will design, coordinate, and facilitate a variety of recreational activities tailored to the interests and needs of seniors, including those living with Alzheimer's, dementia, or other memory impairments. Your positive energy will foster a lively, inclusive environment that promotes socialization, mental stimulation, and overall well-being. This paid position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of older adults while developing your skills in senior care, recreational therapy, and community engagement. Responsibilities Plan and organize engaging activities that cater to diverse interests and cognitive abilities of residents, including arts and crafts, music sessions, games, outings, and special events. Facilitate daily recreational programs that promote social interaction, physical activity, and mental stimulation for residents with varying levels of mobility and cognitive function. Collaborate with nursing staff and caregivers to assess individual resident needs related to Alzheimer's care, dementia care, memory care, and aging issues counseling. Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as dressing or mobility during activities to ensure safety and participation. Manage activity schedules efficiently to ensure smooth operation and timely execution of planned events. Maintain detailed records of resident participation, preferences, progress notes, and activity outcomes for ongoing care planning. Foster a warm, welcoming environment by encouraging socialization among residents and supporting their emotional well-being through personalized interactions. Communicate effectively with residents' families and team members to update on participation levels and address individual needs or concerns related to senior or long-term care. Stay informed about best practices in recreational therapy and senior care to continuously enhance program quality. Qualifications Proven experience in event planning or recreational programming within assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or similar senior care environments. Prior experience working with older adults, particularly those with Alzheimer's disease or dementia-related conditions. Knowledge of memory care techniques, dementia care strategies, and assisted living operations is highly desirable. Strong communication skills with the ability to connect empathetically with seniors and their families. Ability to assist residents with ADLs safely while promoting independence whenever possible. Excellent schedule management skills to coordinate multiple activities throughout the day efficiently. Background in caregiving or long-term care is preferred; familiarity with home & community care settings is a plus. Compassionate attitude with a genuine desire to improve residents' quality of life through engaging activities. Certification in recreational therapy or related fields is advantageous but not required; willingness to pursue relevant training is welcomed.
