In this role, you will design, coordinate, and facilitate engaging recreational activities that promote social interaction, mental stimulation, and overall well-being. Your enthusiasm and creativity will help create a vibrant environment where residents feel valued, connected, and empowered to enjoy each day to the fullest. This paid position offers a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals with diverse needs, including those requiring memory care and dementia support. Responsibilities Plan, organize, and lead a variety of recreational activities tailored to residents' interests and abilities, including arts and crafts, music therapy, games, and outings. Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as dressing, grooming, and mobility to encourage participation and independence. Foster a supportive environment by providing companionship and encouraging social interaction among residents. Collaborate with caregiving staff to assess individual needs related to aging issues, dementia or Alzheimer's care, and develop personalized activity plans. Manage activity schedules efficiently to ensure timely execution while accommodating residents' preferences and health considerations. Maintain accurate records of participation, resident feedback, and activity outcomes to inform ongoing care plans. Support family members by providing updates on residents' engagement in activities and promoting community involvement. Skills Proven experience in event planning or recreational therapy within assisted living or nursing home settings. Knowledge of memory care techniques, Alzheimer's disease, dementia care, and senior care best practices. Strong communication skills to effectively engage with residents, families, and staff members. Ability to assist residents with ADLs while maintaining dignity and respect for individual needs. Experience working with individuals with disabilities or in home & community care environments is highly desirable. Excellent schedule management skills to coordinate multiple activities seamlessly throughout each day.
