Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Activities Director to lead engaging, meaningful, and enjoyable programs for residents in a senior living community. In this vital role, you will design, coordinate, and oversee a diverse array of recreational activities that promote socialization, mental stimulation, physical well-being, and overall quality of life. Your enthusiasm and creativity will inspire residents to participate actively in their daily lives, fostering a vibrant community atmosphere. This paid position offers an opportunity to make a positive impact on seniors' lives while utilizing your skills in event planning, recreational therapy, and senior care. Duties Plan, organize, and execute a variety of engaging activities tailored to residents' interests, abilities, and needs, including arts and crafts, music therapy, outings, and themed events Collaborate with nursing staff and caregivers to incorporate therapeutic activities such as dementia care strategies, Alzheimer's care programs, and memory care initiatives Facilitate recreational therapy sessions that support physical activity and cognitive engagement for residents with disabilities or long-term care needs Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) as needed during events to promote independence and participation Manage the activity calendar efficiently by scheduling events that align with residents' preferences and aging issues counseling when appropriate Foster social interaction by encouraging participation in group activities and developing personalized programs for individual residents Maintain detailed records of activities conducted, resident participation levels, and feedback to continually improve program offerings Requirements Proven experience in event planning within assisted living facilities or nursing homes; experience in senior care or long-term care environments is highly preferred Strong understanding of Alzheimer's care, dementia care, memory care, and recreational therapy techniques Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals with disabilities or cognitive impairments Excellent communication skills to engage residents, families, staff members, and community partners effectively Ability to manage schedules efficiently while prioritizing resident safety and well-being Knowledge of aging issues counseling and social work principles relevant to senior populations Compassionate caregiving attitude with patience and adaptability in diverse situations Prior experience working in home & community care settings is a plus Join us as an Activities Director where your energy fuels vibrant lives!
