Activities Director Whittier Adult day health care center Whittier, CA Job Details Full-time From $23 an hour 1 day ago Qualifications Amusement ride operation Crowd control Complaint handling High school diploma or GED Amusement facility cleaning Retail sales Full Job Description Activity Director / Activities Coordinator Position Summary The Activity Director is responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing therapeutic recreational and social activities for participants attending the Adult Day Health Care Center. The Activity Director develops programs that promote physical, cognitive, emotional, and social well-being for elderly adults and adults with disabilities in a safe and supportive environment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Develop and maintain monthly activity calendars tailored to participant needs and interests. Plan and lead group and individual activities including: arts and crafts music and movement exercise programs cognitive stimulation games cultural celebrations community outings holiday events Assess participants' recreational interests and functional abilities. Adapt activities for participants with physical, cognitive, or behavioral limitations. Encourage participant engagement and social interaction. Coordinate special events, entertainers, volunteers, and community resources. Maintain activity supplies, equipment, and budget. Document participant attendance, participation, and progress notes as required. Collaborate with nursing, social services, rehabilitation, and dietary staff to support individualized care plans. Ensure activities comply with California
CBAS/ADHC
regulations and safety standards. Maintain infection control and participant safety during activities. Provide supervision to activity assistants and volunteers when applicable. Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and staff training. Qualifications High school diploma or GED required. Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Recreation Therapy, Gerontology, Human Services, or related field preferred. Minimum 1-2 years experience working with seniors or adults with disabilities preferred. Experience in adult day health care, senior centers, skilled nursing, or dementia care preferred. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred. Knowledge of dementia, mental health, and age-related conditions helpful. CPR and First Aid certification preferred. Valid California driver's license may be required for community outings. Skills and Abilities Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Creative and energetic personality. Ability to lead group activities effectively. Organizational and time-management skills. Compassion, patience, and professionalism. Basic computer and documentation skills. Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, bend, and assist participants during activities. Ability to lift and carry activity supplies up to 25 pounds. Ability to safely assist participants with mobility needs when necessary. Work Environment Adult Day Health Care / Community-Based Adult Services (CBAS) setting. Indoor and occasional outdoor recreational activities. Interaction with elderly adults, disabled adults, and multidisciplinary healthcare staff. Schedule Full-time or part-time Monday-Friday daytime hours Occasional special events or outings may require schedule flexibility
