Position Summary:
The DECA Sponsor is responsible for advising and managing the school's DECA chapter, a student organization focused on preparing emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in marketing, finance, hospitality, and management. This role supports student growth through leadership development, competitive events, and real-world business experiences.
Salary:
Stipend starting at $4000.
Key Responsibilities:
Organize and supervise DECA chapter meetings, activities, and events Recruit and promote student participation in DECA programs Prepare and mentor students for district, state, and international competitions Coordinate travel, registration, and logistics for conferences and events Oversee fundraising efforts and manage the chapter budget in accordance with school policies Ensure compliance with DECA guidelines and school/district procedures Support student leadership development and officer training Maintain accurate records of membership, activities, and finances Communicate effectively with students, parents, staff, and administration Ensure student safety and appropriate conduct during all activities and travel
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Education, Marketing, Business, or a related field preferred Valid teaching license Knowledge of marketing, business, or entrepreneurship concepts Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills Ability to supervise extracurricular activities outside of regular school hours
Preferred Skills:
Experience with DECA or similar career and technical student organizations Event planning and coordination experience Ability to mentor and motivate high school students
Work Schedule:
Includes after-school meetings, events, and occasional travel for competitions
Reports To:
Director of Activities Benefits include: PERA retirement, and other optional benefit elections. Employees who are regularly scheduled to work 30 or more hours per week as defined by their position are also eligible for the district's health insurance.
