Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a compassionate and energetic Activities Coordinator Volunteer to lead engaging recreational and social programs within our senior living community. The ideal candidate will have experience in event planning, assisted living, and long-term care environments, with a focus on enhancing residents' quality of life through meaningful activities. This role involves coordinating diverse programs tailored to residents' needs, including those with Alzheimer's, dementia, and other memory care challenges. The Activities Coordinator will work closely with staff, residents, and families to foster a vibrant, supportive community that promotes social interaction, mental stimulation, and overall well-being. Responsibilities Develop, plan, and execute a variety of engaging activities and events tailored to residents' interests and abilities, including recreational therapy sessions. Coordinate schedules for daily activities, outings, and special events to ensure seamless program delivery. Collaborate with nursing staff and caregivers to integrate therapeutic activities that support cognitive health and emotional well-being. Manage activity supplies, equipment, and materials ensuring safety and accessibility for all participants. Provide counseling on aging issues and support residents' social needs through personalized engagement strategies. Maintain detailed records of resident participation and feedback to continually improve program offerings. Foster relationships with residents' families to encourage participation and gather input on preferred activities. Ensure compliance with safety protocols and health regulations during all activities. Experience Proven experience in event planning within assisted living or nursing home settings. Background in senior care, including Alzheimer's care, memory care, or dementia care is highly desirable. Experience working with individuals with disabilities or in recreational therapy roles is preferred. Prior long-term care or home & community care experience will be considered an asset. Strong communication skills are essential for engaging residents effectively and collaborating with team members. Knowledge of assisting residents with ADLs and managing activity schedules is important. Familiarity with aging issues counseling and social work principles will enhance program development efforts.
