Job Overview We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Activity Assistant to join our team in providing engaging and meaningful activities for residents in our assisted living and long-term care facilities. The ideal candidate will have a passion for enhancing the quality of life for individuals, particularly those dealing with aging issues, memory care, and disabilities. This role is essential in promoting social interaction, physical activity, and cognitive stimulation among residents. Responsibilities Develop and implement recreational therapy programs tailored to the needs and interests of residents. Facilitate group activities such as arts and crafts, games, music sessions, and exercise classes. Assist residents with participation in activities, ensuring their comfort and safety at all times. Communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff to encourage participation and gather feedback on activities. Document resident participation and progress in activity programs to support individualized care plans. Collaborate with nursing staff to identify residents who may benefit from additional support or specialized activities. Provide companionship and emotional support to residents, fostering a positive environment within the facility. Requirements Previous experience in caregiving or working in assisted living or nursing home settings is preferred. Knowledge of aging issues counseling and recreational therapy practices is a plus. Strong communication skills to effectively interact with residents, families, and team members. Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team focused on enhancing resident well-being. Experience working with individuals with disabilities is beneficial. A background in social work or related fields is advantageous but not mandatory. A genuine passion for improving the lives of seniors through engaging activities.
