Job Description Anchor Place is a community-supported ministry of St. Patrick's Episcopal Church for people living with dementia and their carepartners. Our mission is to provide social, emotional, and spiritual support for older adults living with memory loss and other cognitive impairments, ease the challenges of caregiving, and address the epidemic of loneliness through innovative, caring programming. Reports to: Director, Anchor Place
Status:
Part-time; approximately 15-20 hours per week, including attendance at Tuesday and Thursday Respite Day Program
Summary:
Assist in planning and delivering quality, joy-filled activities for Respite Day Program Participants and Volunteers.
Program Support:
Create daily activity plans for Respite Day Program, which incorporate best practices in social-recreational dementia care. Activities include cognitive games, topical presentations, guided discussions, art, storytelling, music, and movement. Lead activities and equip volunteers and other staff to take an active role in activities as needed. Serve as "Director of the Day" to carry out programming and oversight when Director is unavailable during a respite day. Recommend procurement of necessary supplies and equipment to deliver cost-effective programming. Assist in recruiting, training, and sustaining a motivated and committed volunteer base. Maintain a safe, secure, and welcoming environment. Take initiative to further develop professional knowledge and skills by attending workshops, reading, and consulting other leaders in the field. Provide input as requested on other aspects of developing Anchor Place ministry, including facility matters, participant reviews, volunteer needs, long-term planning, fundraising, etc. Other duties as assigned.
