Job Summary We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Activities Assistant to join our team on a weekends-only basis. The ideal candidate will have a passion for engaging seniors through meaningful recreational activities, fostering social interaction, and enhancing overall well-being. This role involves planning and facilitating diverse activities that promote mental, physical, and emotional health for residents in assisted living and memory care settings. Responsibilities Develop and implement engaging activity programs tailored to residents' interests and abilities, including recreational therapy and social events. Assist in organizing special events, outings, and therapeutic activities that stimulate cognitive function and promote socialization. Collaborate with nursing staff to support residents' participation in activities that assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) and enhance quality of life. Foster a positive environment by encouraging resident participation and maintaining a respectful, inclusive atmosphere. Manage activity supplies and equipment, ensuring safety standards are met at all times. Document resident engagement levels and provide feedback to the care team regarding individual preferences or needs related to activities. Support residents with disabilities or dementia by adapting activities to accommodate their specific requirements. Experience Candidates should possess prior experience in activity planning within assisted living or nursing home environments, preferably with a focus on senior care or memory care. Experience working with individuals with disabilities or dementia is highly valued. Strong communication skills are essential for effectively engaging residents and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams. Familiarity with caregiving, long-term care practices, recreational therapy techniques, and aging issues counseling will enhance success in this role. A background in home & community care or social work is advantageous for understanding residents' holistic needs.
