Job Description

Siouxland Youth for Christ is seeking a Juvenile Justice Area Coordinator. Juvenile Justice Ministries, a core ministry model within Youth for Christ, builds relationships throughout the court system, community, and regional churches to impact juveniles who find themselves at life's most pivotal moments. Your work is vital in introducing lost students to the Gospel through Christ-centered relationships while empowering a team of volunteers to minister to and advocate for these students. Your time will be spent in the following areas: 25% relational ministry focus, including meeting weekly with new students, building ongoing relationships, leading small groups, and serving Juvenile Court Officers and others involved in the Juvenile system. 45% volunteer leadership development by recruiting, training, and supporting leaders through living life together. 20% community partnership development by creating a network of individuals, churches, businesses, and other partners that fund, support, volunteer for, and guide the ministry. 10% administration and reporting, ensuring effective communication, tracking, growth, and unity amongst the Siouxland YFC Team. About Siouxland Youth for Christ Our Siouxland Chapter's passion is impacting the 80% of students in Northwest Iowa who are unchurched. We envision engaging 2,400 11-to 19-year-olds annually, year after year, through authentic Christ-sharing relationships with 500 volunteers. We impact students on the campus, in the community, across the court system, and alongside the church. Currently, our impact is felt in 5 communities throughout the region. Spiritual Responsibilities Because the overriding religious purpose and mission of Youth for Christ USA is to communicate and introduce the Gospel of Jesus Christ to young people and their families, and in that regard to make, educate and encourage life-long disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ, it is very important that you as an employee in the movement of Youth for Christ be recognized as an associate minister of the Gospel. As such, YFC expects all employees to: Seek God's guidance and wisdom, through prayer and meditation, for the organization as a whole as well as for specific ministry initiatives. Participate and lead regular times of prayer, devotion and worship as a regular aspect of your role within YFC. Teach and preach from the Holy Bible at YFC staff meetings, conferences, camps, and events. Model empathy, humility and care for all people. This includes promoting equity and inclusion in word and in the practice of faith expression. YFC employees will have an opportunity to be commissioned or licensed as a minister of the Gospel through the established Youth for Christ process, and/or ordained by an outside body recognized by Youth for Christ USA. Position Requirements The leader that we are seeking: Needs to be gifted in navigating multicultural and socially diverse environments Have a working understanding of the Juvenile Justice system. A degree in Juvenile Justice, Social Work, or a similar area is preferred. Needs to understand Trauma Informed Care with students who approach life with trauma-framed experiences. Must have an active, growing relationship with Jesus Christ, with the ability to share their faith. Able to recruit and assimilate volunteers Have experience in teaching and training others Assist in spiritual growth, attitude, accountability, and team relationships to foster the greatest possible team unity, both within the Juvenile Justice team and Siouxland Youth for Christ. Develop existing programs and create new programs in coordination with the Ministry Director & Regional Director. Develop and lead a Community Support Team Fundraising Responsibilities All YFC employees are expected to regularly and actively participate in faithful activities that advance the stewardship functions of YFC/USA. These activities will include—but are not limited to— extending invitations to fundraising events, recruiting personal circle of influence/YFC donor contacts, sending letters, handwritten notes, personal calls, and personally ministering to donor contacts. During your tenure in this position, you will be supervised by Roxie Rahn, our Ministry Director, serve alongside our Ministry Team, and receive additional guidance, support, and training from our Regional Director and Executive Leadership Team.
