Job Description

The Good Samaritan Home of Quincy is looking for an Assistant Director of Activities to join our growing team!
Job Summary:
The primary purpose of your job position is to assist in the planning, developing, organizing, implementing, evaluating, and directing of the Activity Program of this facility, to assure that the individual needs of our residents are met through spiritual, emotional, recreational, and social activities.
PAY RANGE
$16.25•$18.25/hr.•Bi-weekly pay

Complete documentation as directed by your supervisor. Complete the activity component of the MDS assessment for assigned areas and/or as directed by your supervisor. Complete an assessment plan and activity assessment plan for each resident in assigned areas. Complete entry note and activity note as required for assigned areas. Implement evenings, weekend functions, and special events as necessary. Take part in in-service education and attend all in-service sessions relating to the Activity Program. Implement community outings as directed by the Activity Director. This may include escorting individual residents on outings. Develop and implement activities as directed by your supervisor. Assist the Activity Director in planning and implementing special events and programs. Assume leadership of the Activity Department when Activity Director is out of the building. Implement neighborhood activities as directed. Assist the Activity Director with neighborhood paperwork as needed. This may include care plan attendance. Assist residents through the buffet line as directed by the Activity Director Assist in recruiting, interviewing, orientating, and evaluating of facility volunteers as directed. Attend and participate in professional activities, workshops, seminars, and programs as agreed upon with Activity Director. Observe infection control procedures related to the Activity Program when serving food. Responsible for the safety of residents under his/her supervision. Follow the Resident's Rights policy at all times. Assume accountability for data contained in employee's handbook. Follow all facility safety policies and procedures. Assist in all maintenance of activity equipment and supplies. Qualifications Must have a high school diploma, or GED equivalent and prefer a minimum two years experience in a long-term care activity program setting. Must be able to read, write, and speak the English language. Must have the ability to feel, hear, see, and smell. Must be able to lift loads in excess of 50 lbs. and do physical labor that consists of balancing, climbing, crouching, grasping, kneeling, pulling, pushing, reaching, standing, and stooping. Must have the willingness and an aptitude for working with a variety of people. Must have the basic understanding of the needs of the ill and elderly and have an empathetic approach to illness. Must have a sincere desire to work with senior adults. Must have a basic knowledge of a variety of activities. Must exhibit the ability to give instructions to others and to lead.
