We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Activity Aid to join our team at West Chicago Living and Rehab Center LLC. As an Activity Aid, you will play a crucial role in planning, implementing, and evaluating recreational, social, intellectual, emotional, and spiritual programs for our residents. Your primary responsibility will be to assist in creating a warm, welcoming, and engaging environment that promotes the physical, social, and mental well-being of our residents.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist in planning, developing, organizing, implementing, and evaluating activity programs and the quality assurance program in the facility for the Activities Department. Observe resident attendance, mood, behavior, and degree of involvement to evaluate resident progress and report to supervisors. Develop and maintain a good working rapport with other departments within the facility to ensure seamless daily activities. Create and maintain a calm and positive environment throughout the facility. Assist in preparing activity rooms and areas for scheduled programs. Recommend equipment and supply needs to supervisors. Purchase department supplies, clothing, and personal items for residents. Maintain confidentiality of resident care information and follow facility guidelines. Oversee residents engaged in scheduled activities to promote their overall well-being. Assist with errands, crafts, and other activities as necessary. Visit with residents, write letters, and perform other assistance as needed.
Qualifications:
Experience in Long Term Care Activities Department is preferred. Must have patience, tact, cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm. Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English. Ability to function independently and work effectively with residents, personnel, and support agencies.
Physical Demands:
Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday. Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of this position. Must be able to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and at times, hostile people. Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a minimum height of 5 feet and be able to push, pull, move, and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet.
