Church Sexton 128 Central Street, Auburn, MA 01501 $20 an hour - Part-time $20 an hour - Part-time Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Church Sexton to serve as a vital part of our faith community. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and overall appearance of the church premises, ensuring a welcoming environment for worshipers, visitors, and staff alike. Your leadership will help uphold the spiritual and physical integrity of our sacred space, supporting various church activities and events with enthusiasm and professionalism. This paid position offers an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to our community while developing skills in event planning, crisis intervention, and Christian counseling. Responsibilities Maintain the cleanliness and organization of all church facilities, including sanctuaries, classrooms, offices, restrooms, and outdoor areas. Oversee security protocols to ensure the safety of all visitors and staff during services and events. Assist with setup and breakdown for church services, special events, and community outreach programs. Provide support in crisis situations by applying crisis management techniques and offering bereavement support when needed. Collaborate with church leadership to plan and execute community events, ensuring all logistical details are managed effectively. Support hospice care initiatives by creating a compassionate environment for those receiving end-of-life care within the church setting. Offer Christian counseling or mentoring to congregation members seeking spiritual guidance or emotional support. Manage conflict or crisis situations with calmness and professionalism, providing appropriate intervention or escalation as necessary. Engage in public speaking or presentation activities to communicate church messages or educational content clearly and confidently. Contribute to the development of educational programs by utilizing teaching skills and effective communication techniques. Experience Prior experience in event planning, facility maintenance, or custodial work is preferred but not required; training will be provided. Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with diverse groups of people. Demonstrated leadership capabilities with a proactive approach to problem-solving and conflict management. Experience in crisis intervention or crisis management is advantageous; certification in these areas is a plus. Familiarity with Christian counseling principles or mentoring practices is beneficial. Ability to handle sensitive situations with empathy, discretion, and professionalism. Excellent writing skills for documentation purposes such as incident reports or communication materials.
